R&D - Competences
2A invests almost 3% of its turnover in R&D and thanks to this arrived to register 2 patents.
2A can offer competences and experience on a wide range of fields, from automotive (passenger cars, engines, trucks, trains) to lighting and domestic applications.
The technical department offers the following development competences:
- engineering of the piece;
- validation of the geometry by FEM;
- validation of the project with prototypes.
2A has good competences in production of:
- proper pieces (with a specific washing machine and a well equipped laboratory);
- leakage tested pieces;
- components for the engines of trucks as is currently producing all the parts potentially interested from an engine,
some of the complete functions included (heat exchangers, thermostats, gasoline filters,..);
- aesthetic pieces (finished with different painting processes: cataphoresis, liquid, powder,….).
The development contracts with two of the biggest Aluminium producers enables 2A to propose innovative "ductile alloys".
A profitable relationship with the Engineer University of Turin (the "Politecnico") enables 2A and its Customers, as a service, to be informed and involved in the major research programmes. Moreover, the presence of the "Politecnico" and of the biggest European automotive factory network gives 2A the availability of the competencies necessary to answer to most of the requests of the customers.
R&D - Glue casting® (technology and proceeding patented)
2A, in order to answer a need of one of its Customers, developed a method for gluing parts that allowed the manufacture, by die casting, of a component that could only be obtained with gravity casting: as for the innovative character, this technology has been patented.
R&D - -Vulcan
2A participated, with the Turin and Barcelona Polytechnic, in a European research programme, which developed a software for the simulation of the filling and of the solidification of the dies.
Thanks to this software, it will be possible to reduce of approximately the 25% the time to market of the development of the new products.
R&D -SSDC (Small Series Die Casting)
2A arrived to reduce the cost of the tools related to the small series and consequently is able to increase the die-casting applications also on the small series.
R&D - Innovative alloys (High Tech Die-Casting)
2A is continuously developing new alloys following the request of the Customers in order to improve the reliability of the components and increase the range of products offered.
Examples of parts developed are:
- pieces which are successively welded;
- pieces with an elongation of 5-15% (according to the wall thickness) without any heat treatment: the so called "ductile aluminium";
- pieces for the chassis application.
